Built by us. For all of us.

NC Climate Justice Collective

We are shifting the cultural paradigm: turning our society away from destruction and toward equitable, Earth-honoring, inclusive community building. We build grassroots power, develop movement infrastructure, and align frontline struggles.

What We Do

Group of people preparing and displaying large colorful kites with nature in the background.

We connect, heal, and grow everybody’s movement. We dance, we sing, we listen, we learn...we lift each other up. Together, we explore grassroots solutions that make our communities more resilient, equitable and powerful as we work to avert climate chaos.

How We Work

A group of people seated in a circle in a wooden room, participating in a discussion or meeting, with a colorful mural of a nature scene in the background.

We believe all people have a vital contribution to make in dealing with climate change. Achieving climate justice requires a fundamental transformation of our society based on the principles of social, environmental, and economic justice.

Read about Our Approach >

For more than a decade, our Collective has brought together impacted communities, cultural organizers, and everyday leaders to build a bold, inclusive, and practical path toward climate justice.

In 2013, we began envisioning and organizing the first North Carolina Climate Justice Summit—a space for grassroots leadership, collective learning, and transformative action. Since then, we have hosted five Summits and developed ongoing programs that cultivate holistic, experiential education and movement-building. This is a new sentence.

We know that climate change does not impact all communities equally. BIPOC communities and people experiencing poverty are hit first and worst—by extractive industries, intensifying storms, floods, droughts, and rising seas. That’s why we center frontline leadership and prioritize resources for those most impacted. Everyone who engages with our work—whether through our Summits, Resiliency Organizing Hubs, Energy Democracy Leadership Institute, or cultural organizing initiatives—is a vital part of this movement. Together, we are winning the world we want: one rooted in justice, resilience, and collective liberation.
